4 teacher school: St. Benin’s NS has received approval for the appointment of a permanent special Education Teacher for the school year 2017/2018 (as per email from Noel Joyce below.
Dear Principal,
I refer to your application under Appendix D of Circular 0017/2017 for a shared full-time permanent Special Education Teacher post. The allocation of this post to your school has been approved).
New model for Special Education will be implemented in September 2017. (circular 0013/2017).

Girls 5-a-side soccer in MacHale College competition on 5th May.
First Holy Communion Day 13th May. Pupils from 3rd to 6th class will take part in the choir. The Halla will be available after Mass for Communion class. Parents, grandparents and family members are invited to come for light refreshments.
In-school soccer competition for senior classes in June – gold, silver, bronze medals.
St. Benin’s will take part in 9-a-side Cumann na mBunscol football final on Thursday June 1st. Last year this was a mixed competition, however the rules were changed and girls are now not allowed play. Since 1995 girls from the school have been allowed play and have taken part in this competition. However rules for the competition for 2017 state that:
Girls are only allowed to play in boy’s competition at 5, 6 and 7 a-side. Girls playing in boys competitions must obey normal rules e.g. not allowed to pick the ball directly off the ground.
Testing will
take place in early June.
End of year/graduation Mass fixed for Saturday 10th June in Kilbannon church. Infants and 1st class will sing before Mass and 2nd to 6th class will take part in the choir. (wear ordinary clothes).

Choir practice for First Communion in Kilbannon church on
Thursday evening at 8.00pm. Can all who
have volunteered for choir please attend.
Parents of children who are making 1st Communion are asked to
bring the communion children to Kilbannon church tomorrow morning Tuesday 9th
May at 9.00am for practice. Bus will
pick them up at 10 am and return them to school.

Thursday, 7pm 15th Dec: 2nd, 3rd class - "The Pied

Christmas Carols in Kilbannon church: Kilbannon NS children will
sing in Kilbannon church on Saturday the 17th December. Children should be at
the church at 6.05 pm. Infants and 1st class will sing before Mass, 6.10 to 6.25. Infants and 1st class
should return to their parents/guardians at 6.25 pm.
2nd to 6th class will sing in the choir
during Mass. Parents/guardians are asked to supervise their children on that
evening.
Swimming
lessons for 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th class
children in Kilbannon NS will take place for 6 Tuesdays beginning on the 10th January from 11.30 pm to 12.15 pm. The bus will leave the
school at 11.00 am and is expected back at the school at 12.45 am. The cost works
out at €45 per child.
This fee covers the cost of transport to
and from, plus admission to the pool. It would be appreciated if you could have
the appropriate fee in before 1st
swimming lesson. Swimming caps must be worn. Thank You.

Christmas holidays on Thursday 22nd
December and school finishes at 12.00 pm. Santa will visit on that day (and no euro raffle). School reopens on
